how is it almost the end of May though? This month has been FLYING by, and I am feeling all the feels as my kids finished their school year, my youngest is going down slides by himself, and I am gearing up for a fun and busy summer!
Can I be honest with you? This has to be my favorite blog post of the month. I feel like it is easy as a practitioner and in this alternative healing world to be so focused on all the things we are doing for our health, that we forget to share how we are really LIVING. That’s where the medicine is.
With that, let’s do 11 things and let me know your thoughts in the comments!! (I know you have them!)
1.I recently got back from the Cellcore Eco conference in Boise, and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD. To be surrounded by other holistic minded practitioners passionate about healing was so incredible. There were so many great chats, especially when it came to parasites/detox, the quantum field, botox and other unnatural fillers; I recap my top 3 takeaways here! I have missed these kind of events- I have been in the motherhood with littles stretch for many years now, and while I love it, there are aspects of myself I have left behind as I focused on our current season. It feels so good to be able to start getting that back and preparing for other retreats in the next few years!
2.May is Lyme Disease Awareness month, which is near and dear to me as someone who went through Lyme disease. This dis-ease is SO misunderstood, and there are so many roots and metaphysical layers to it. Most people just think it comes from a tick bite, but that is RARELY the case. It is my personal belief that most people have been exposed to the Lyme Borrelia bacteria, but not everyone gets sick. What helps prevent illness is optimizing our immune and nervous systems. I have a few great posts on this over on my feed– I will be sharing more of my recovery story here soon!
3.I got my first microdermabrasion, which was so cool! Ha-I am such a simple makeup and skincare girl, but have been trying to be more focused on ways to support my skin naturally. I was thinking about doing microneedling but decided to start with microdermabrasion and love it! I noticed such a big difference after with my skin that I want to repeat it again soon. What is your skincare routine lately?
4. I have been CRAVING iced coffee lately with a hint of lavender – SO GOOD. It’s funny, a lot of people assume that because I work with so many people with hormone and adrenal issues that my recommendation would be to stop coffee, but that’s not the case! It 100% depends on the type of coffee, and especially that it is mold free and heavy metal free. My favorite is King Coffee- it is a clean organic coffee with reishi that is excellent for blood sugar support, if you have mold, candida or parasites (Hello everyone haha) and won’t leave you feeling jittery after. I am going to link my link for it for you – let me know if you try it or need help grabbing what you need!
5.ITS SUMMER YALL. Well almost, and it feels like it for sure here in North Idaho. I am so passionate about utilizing the sun to support our biology, and am offering a Healing Sunshine accountability group over on Telegram for June! It is for 7 days starting 6/5 (yup, we are starting on a Monday!) and will be focused on supporting your skin, sleep, immune system and hormones through the sun. If that sounds like something you want learn and connect on, hop into the Telegram group! I love telegram because it is such a low key high vibe social media option for us. I know you will love it, and this is going to be so fun to do together!
6. Bathing Suits. Ok what are your faves? Where are my Postpartum-ish moms at? I repeat, where are you lol. I am on the hunt for a new bathing suit or two- ideally, I love to find cleaner material brands, but of course, want it to have a cuter, fun design. I found some cleaner options here for us that I am going to start checking out- I will share if I commit!
7. Unlock your Inner Healer free guide is now out and it is AMAZING. I love all my free resources, but this one is near and dear to my heart, as it’s more digging into the metaphysical roots of dis-ease, why you are stuck, and how to start unlearning the stories of why you are stuck. I am SO excited for you to read it! And I cannot wait to get your feedback; click here for it.
8. I recently did an email swap with my friend and fellow holistic minded nurse Sara, and it was a WILD success! Sara brought forth her wisdom on hormones, burnout and minerals, and I shared with her audience about the roots and emotional components of why you may feel stuck when it comes to your health. If you aren’t on my email list already, make sure you are so you don’t miss any of these fun emails!
9. To follow up on that summer convo…I am still available for 1:1 coaching and sessions this summer, however, my availability has changed. I now am seeing clients Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursday from June through August and have the availability for 7 to 8 sessions per week. That said, if you have been wanting to book mind body spirit release or transformative holistic and metaphysical health coaching, please make sure to get on my calendar asap, as I am almost fully booked in June and starting to book in July and August. I made a commitment to myself to keep tight work hours this summer and allow myself to enjoy our beautiful Idaho sun, so I am excited to support my community and you too through this next season!
10. Mother’s day came and went, and we visited our local amusement park for the day (see pic below!). I remember when I was going through Lyme disease and how I dreamed of these moments where I could just be enjoying day to day activities like this with my kids. It feels so rewarding to get to do it, and make these memories together. I love amusement parks- especially roller coasters and water rides- what about you?
11. Just yesterday I shared our story as a family who transitioned to zero screens for my kids. This isn’t a topic that I have brought up before on my IG or here, and it feels a bit personal because it is my kids- that said, this was a personal choice! I have absolutely ZERO judgement towards anyone who does screens, and as a parent of three small kids, I GET IT. Nobody understands what it’s like to be in your shoes, or mine, and we wall have to trust our inner compass here. That said, I can’t think of anyone who wants to increase their screen time for their kids, right?
I came to this with working on my kid’s behavior, especially my middle child Harrison, who we were recovering from mold toxicity. I also have huge interest and passion for vagal tone, heart rate variability and nervous system regulation in general- this is a lot of the work I do! In addition, I have friends who have worked for the Metaverse, which has lead to very eye opening conversations of what is coming when it comes to virtual reality.
We would probably do TV a couple days a week, which usually included the Tuttle Twins show, National geographic or Pokemon. Following any show, there would be huge meltdowns and just begging to watch more TV all hours of the day, every day. Starting the end of January, I decided to trial detoxing from TV. I’ll include a few studies below on screen time and the brain, but essentially, we wanted to support the nervous system as best as possible because this is HUGE for supporting the immune system and preventing disease and chronic illness.
The first few weeks were tough, and my husband and I had to do our own reality check of our person screen consumption around our kids. It also was eye opening to see my own habits around working (I have the tendency to always want to work more!) and then putting on a screen to “keep the kids occupied”. For my husband, we realized for him he just needed to “relax” and that’s why the TV was put on.
We decided to create new rhythms and patterns to help limit TV. When my husband Ray got home from work, he took 15 minutes to just be alone and recoup. This helped him immensely in being able to not default to turning on the TV. For me, I had to become aware of my need to work or “people pleasing” tendencies of not wanting to say no. This was rooted in deep abandonment issues that I have been working on over the past year. Since that point, it has been easier to meet myself with love and compassion and have the ability to set healthier rhythms in place for the kids.
It has been a great journey. We did a movie in mid April after almost 3 months of no screens and realized that it wasn’t worth it with the behavior shifts. We went back to the no screens ever since, and it has been wonderful to see the kids play, expand their creativity and imagination.
3 tips for switching over to less or no screens:
1) Evaluate your own screen time around your kids- what is necessary? How can you detox yourself?
2) Notice what patterns are leading you to turn on the TV. How can you reroute and transmute these to different behaviours?
3) Support their imagination, creativity and communication throughout the process- you may need to become the entertainment for a little while! You also may like to utilize this therapeutic storytelling book.
Hope this helps! I love to hear from you! There is so many cool things on the way from me: a new course, podcast, more ways to work together- EEK! can’t wait to share more. Have a great rest of your May friend!
