howdy and happy wednesday! y/all were BIG fans of the first initial 11 things blog post in February and I totally get why! It is less about the big things, recommendations and tools, and more about living in the moment and finding the micromoments of the ordinary- something we can all relate too!
I hope you know that as a holistic health practitioner, I want to always show the simple in life because that’s honestly where the most joy and healing happens!
Here are 11 things I’m loving, happening in our lives right now, lessons I am learning and more (let me know anything that resonates by commenting on the blog post!):
Can’r remember the last time I updated the lock and home screen on my phone, but it has definitely been years. Recently I updated with the mantra: I am only available for opportunities and people that are worthy of my energy. As someone who has had chronic fatigue issues in the past, it just really hits home and is such a great reminder whenever I open my phone. Do you have any mantras you are loving recently?
Recently in a conversation with a friend I was reminded how much I love spontaneity. Spontaneous trips, plans, all of it. You kind of sign an unspoken agreement when you become a parent that that shifts this a little bit BUT this conversation just reminded me how much I miss that and LOVE it. So I have been looking for more spontaneous moments recently, been adding things to my calendar that seem a bit last minute. And just because it feels really good. Was chatting with close friends just about our next travels- we go up to Canada in a few weeks and then where to next? Hawaii? Bali? Travel is such a big motivator for me in life and it feels so great to be up for randomness. Big mental shift for me with leaving chronic illness farther and farther behind.
I just finished the book How to Break up with Your Friends recently and OMG. Everyone needs to read it. And no, I am not breaking up with you, ha. I was inspired to read it after listening to a podcast episode and truthfully, the book is less about breaking up and more about recognizing patterns within yourself that bring you to repeat challenges and toxic situations. I always have believed it takes two to tango. There’s a lot of focus in the healing/self healer community about removing toxic people from your life but what about doing the curiosity work to begin with of how you even got entwined in that relationship? Anyways, SO good, I will be sharing on the gram about it soon, and how it has helped me!
Mini cleanse. Starting one next week and have just felt more and more called to this with spring coming and a focus on the wood element in chinese medicine; it’s such a great time to be focusing on detoxing our liver. I started juicing again in the past week celery and apple and just very intuitively came to it after a few years of not doing it. I feel like cleanses can be so empowering to detox emotions, support the gut and overall cellular vibration. Do you like to do seasonal cleanses too?
On the homestead: Pig processing starts today! This is our third season doing pigs on the homestead, and I will be out in a little bit doing video footage of the processing part. It’s so fun to see a lot of hard work pay off. Starting our homestead was a big dream for us, and often dreams take time- you learn a lot about yourself in the process. I am exciting to expand our homestead this year and get a website up and running!
I am back into consistently using my adrenal, thyroid and hormone support oils, serums and herbs again after being a little inconsistent, and to be honest, not feeling that it was as high a priority. I got my first postpartum cycle back though last week and instead of having an oh shit moment, I felt SO excited and connected to be entering a new chapter of life, to be shifting in my being. The postpartum years can be rough, there has been a big shift going from 2 to 3 kids. It just felt like I was returning back home to my feminine being and energy, which just brought up a lot of layered healing for me. If you don’t have my hormone support guide, I will link it- I love the resources especially!
We celebrated Atlas’s first birthday last month, and I am honestly still a flood of emotions from it. Just have a feeling this is my last biological child (ask me again in 5 years) and I know everybody says this but it is so trued: It is like Atlas has always been with us and I cannot imagine him not being a part of our fam! He is definitely. a jokester, always looking to get a reaction and is so uninhibited- he loves going to new places and meeting new places. I am excited to see his personality continue to develop and grow this next year! If you missed my favorite healthy smash cake recipe, grab it here!
Currently watching my ride or die: the Office. Quite possibly the 100th time I have these episodes pop up but it’s seriously my happy show and makes me laugh so much. That said, I am wondering if I need to hop on the Yellowstone train or 1923? Harrison Ford is my old man crush. Any thoughts or recommendations?
I’m currently working on an intuitive led non toxic cleaning guide and while that is in progress, I am popping over lots of non toxic thieves recipes and diys over on my non toxic living IG. If you need some ideas and support in this area, def pop on over! I save everything in highlights if you need to reference later.
I started getting in a consistent rhythm with using thyroid castor oil packs this past month and let me tell you: WHOAAAAA. Like unleash the kracken WHOA. I’m just mindblown how much stagnant energy these help move. I felt almost immediately a huge shift with being able to release some repressed emotions in this area. Being afraid to speak up and share your truth can hold here, or if you feel like you swallow a lot of emotions and keep them in. You can learn more about tools to help with this here.
Our favorite family game to play lately is Monopoly, and we have a few different versions that keep my boys so happy and having so much fun (with some mini fights too haha). We are almost 7 weeks into no screens, which was a super personal decision, but has been working well for us. So games are something that my boys are grabbing a lot more often now! A friend mentioned to me recently who does the same with her kids, how important it is for kids to know what it is like to be bored, and I couldn’t agree more. Boredom inspires creativity, imagination, action. So here’s to a little bit more boredom in our lives, if it means exchanging it for some more peace and creativity.
