Hi Guys. This is Lindsay, your host for the untethered with Lindsay Tuttle NP podcast, where we go deep on truly becoming untethered in your life and health and experiencing exponential freedom. We have the radical and uncensored conversations you have been craving and give you the tools for expansion and growth. I’m so glad that you are here and I can’t wait to connect with you.
Hi Guys. I’m so excited for the podcast episode today. I have my friend, my coach, an incredible, incredible woman beside me here. Well, I guess virtually, but I feel like she’s beside me. She’s absolutely the best. I have Ashleigh Henry here and I can’t wait for you to meet her today on the podcast. Ashleigh Henry has been in marketing, sales and leadership positions for the last decade, and it was exhilarating for Ashleigh to climb the retail, corporate, higher education, and startup ladder, holding positions such as marketing strategist, copywriter, social media strategist, manager, editor, co editor. I told you, she’s the coolest, until it wasn’t.
Alongside her degree, Ashleigh decided to bring all of her experience into the freelancing world until it became clear that she didn’t just want to pay the bills. She wanted to create a company that was foundationally built on cheetah print, legacy minded marketing, and sexy sales structures, that could stand the test of trend and time. The Cheetah Company, founded by Ashleigh, does this for female entrepreneurs through their education, coaching, and consulting services. And you can connect with Ashleigh and learn more about her at www.thecheetahcompany.com/about.
Such a fun bio. And it was so excited to have Ashleigh here beside me. She is just an incredible inspiration to myself. I really, really wanted to have on the Untethered podcast discussions when it came to business and health, because we tend to compartmentalize it or I just don’t even really hear it that much on any sort of health podcast and it definitely needs to be a part of the conversation.
So, Ashleigh, I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m so honored. Thank you. What an intro.
Yeah. Yeah. I love it. I love it. And actually, I am loving starting off my podcast conversations just being able to ask if you could share what your human design is. And you know, a little bit of your gist there. Yeah.
My gist. So I’m a mental projector, apparently I’m kind of rare, which I was like, when, when my human design person shared that with me, I was just like, what does that even mean, like kind of rare? But apparently we’re like the most rare and we are specifically here to make the world more efficient. So to have more rest, to have more space, and it really connects to our conversation today, for sure.
Oh, I love that. Yeah. I haven’t even dug into mine. I think to know where within the the manifesting generator realm I am but I’ve connected with Ashleigh on this in the past and I love it. Because you know my husband is a projector and he definitely, I feel like it’s a very grounding person for me. And Ashleigh has that presence and just a little background of how I even connected with Ashleigh. She is someone who I’ve worked with as a business coach. I, about a year ago was really looking to actualize my dream work, and I really just didn’t know how to get there. I think my observation with working with many women one on one with their health is that the majority, if not all of them, are out of alignment with what they want to be doing within work.
And we don’t realize that this has major effects on our physical health. It impacts our relationships and it’s impacting our wealth because we’re just not in alignment. And I had that awareness and I… Ashleigh had been recommended to me and I was like, you know, I’m just going to dive in and it’s been such an incredible experience for me. I’ve learned so much and it’s been such a beautiful experience of developing self awareness and self trust and also. Not knowing necessarily how it’s all going to unravel, but that’s really part of the journey. And I would say that mirrors so much of what the health journey is that really healing is uncomfortable and a lot of growing in business is uncomfortable.
And so actually I just love to know a bit more of what kind of led you here, cause part of that is what you went through with your own health journey.
Oh my gosh. Yeah. And I feel honored about all of your, your responses and your comments, because that’s my internal goal, is just to make sure that everyone feels very self led and that they have self trust. So that was just like heart flutter.
I would say, I would say that it really started, I started working when I was 15. I should start there and say that I come from a low income household. And so I wanted to be able to have money and not necessarily hear like “we don’t have money for that, we don’t have X, Y, and Z for that.”
So it’s like, okay, I’ll just do it myself. So starting working at 15, that’s a time like, you’re still developing, you’re still figuring out who you are. And instead, I was like, getting into these boxes of, like, I have to be this professional Ashleigh that shows up this specific way. And it was very masculine because my first job was in sales. So I would say moving away from that into college and having the startup culture, working with really cool brands like Harley Davidson, there’s a very specific way to show up and to serve and sell. And it just continued to be this like forced duality between masculine and feminine and feminine just wasn’t really allowed in the conversation. If you were tired, you still needed to push through.
Mm. Mm hmm.
So then I was like, you know what, I graduated college. I want to go into higher education. So I did. And I started working, I started working with the past dean, who was also the past speaker of the house. And…
I didn’t realize this was part of your story, and you went to you went to FSU or UF. I forget.
I worked at UF.
Oh, okay. Okay. Okay.
Yeah. So working there and I was just like, yeah, I’ll take this and I’ll take more. And that’s kind of what caused me to go into burnout. Um, I guess adrenal fatigue in total, but I didn’t know what it was. I had, um, chronic candida that just affected me every single day, no matter what I would eat, drink, how I would sleep. I wouldn’t, um, I was really struggling. And of course, like, that was creating so much just like memory fog issues with staying available and open at work, passing out at work, having huge like event days where I needed to be very on from 7 to 7 and just not being able to do it.
So, I just continued to try to find, like, where can I be this person that I know that I’m meant to be to have more rest and have more space? And I just couldn’t find that in corporate culture because that’s not corporate culture. So I left a startup in May 2020, but I started like building this company behind the scenes in March of 2020. I was like, you know what? Global pandemic. Okay, whatever. Let’s like, do it.
Like 2020 was like such. We’ve talked about this before. 2020 was like the defining year that it was like, you are being forced to go a different path. Like, are you going to take it or not? Like, you know, so I love that. That was like your moment.
That was the moment sitting on the couch being like, “Hey, babe, I really think I can do this”, like tears streaming down my face. Like, I’m so burnt out. I’ve got to do this. I let go of 7 members. That day over Zoom and I was like, our marketing team just got cut in half and like, I’m going to be moonlighting and it’s all these other positions. So I’m basically running an agency. Should I just go start my own? So that’s what happened.
Um, I did continue the burnout for a while inside of the business. And then finally was like, no, we need a wake up call. So we moved into consulting, coaching and education, but it took about 10 months to flip the business model.
Uh, and you know, something that stood out to me from what you shared was just that corporate world that, and really I feel like it’s just like American working culture in general is just a hundred percent masculine. Like I think about just even when I was working in the hospital as a nurse and a 12, which is more like a 14 hour shift, that’s a marathon, your entire day. And how none of this like serves female biology or design and then we wonder why the majority of women are dealing with chronic health conditions that are more affected by autoimmune disorders? And it’s like, because we are not getting to honor like our own physical being. And you knew and saw that it was like your opportunity that you had to forge and create your own path, which I’d love if you could speak to just some of what came up around emotions there? Any like fear and kind of what resonated or what helped you go beyond and just kind of actualize what you were scheming up, dreaming up?
Okay. Okay. Yes. I love this. Okay. So the first three things I did, uh, meditation every day, like every day that I started at the startup, it was around 8 AM. The Slack dings would start going off. And so I was like, what is the absolute reverse of that? And I pursued that. So my morning routine is so freaking slow and I love her.
I love that. That is like, makes such a difference and keep going, keep going. I’m in it. Yeah.
Yes. And I feel like you’ll, of course, be like, yes, this is exactly it. But just, you know, getting outside before 10 AM. So I’m just like really soaking in the sunlight. Same thing at night, making sure that I’m in my circadian flow with the rhythm. Meditation for sure. Lots of water. Having breakfast before coffee. Like those were the things that I was starting to implement. Um, actually having breakfast was a huge thing since, you know, corporate vibes, like a bagel and run or a coffee and run.
The first book I read, which I think we’ve talked about is the desire map. And I just reverse engineered my whole life and business based on passions and what was what I was naturally good at. So if you don’t have that book, it’s like the workbook to pick up. And then the third thing I actually, um, moved right into counseling and started working on somatics overall. Uh, it was a pretty toxic, several back to back work cultures that I was in, and I knew if I wanted to create something different, I had to, like, be able to see what are some of the things that I’m fearful of taking into this next culture. So that was the kind of like ground level. And then in terms of business, it was more like, okay, what is the absolute goal monetarily? What is the market need? How can I get out there? Handshake with my network and ask for referrals.
Yeah, I love that you highlighted the importance of somatics because I realized later in my journey how important that was when I was healing from Lyme and all these diagnoses, I got introduced to brain retraining. This was around, I think, 2020 or 2019 and I started that work, but it was when I actually got introduced to somatics, which I think was like two years later, that it was just the game changer for me. Because I think before that point, I didn’t even know what it was like to be in my body.
You know, where, especially when women are working more in like that virtual setting. And just, we are efficient, we’re motivated, we’re, you know, going, you know, but it’s also like how are you connecting with yourself and your body and your being? And so I love that that was such an integral part of your journey. And I know something that you are so passionate about that I feel like many don’t realize can be an actual reality is marrying business with harmony in health. So I’d love to just hear how do you identify that and what’s something that you would encourage women with in regards to that?
Yes. Okay. I love this. So holistic harmony in life and business is kind of our trademark focus, but it’s just like the ethos of our brand of like, this is what we’re here to do. Who cares if you’re a seven figure earner and you can’t like have a conversation with your husband because you’re fighting all the time. Or you can’t sit down with your kids and like be without your phone. That’s like really where it came from because we started working with some folks at the beginning of this business and realizing they didn’t have the rest of the pie of life.
Because no one was talking about it. So when I think of the pie of life, I’m thinking, how’s your spirituality? How are you with your own self? Like, can you be with your own self and hang out as though you’re an only child and you’re the only person in the world and how are your relationships? How are you serving the world outside of business?
And just kind of like going through every portion of life to ask yourself on a one to five, how is this? And we’ve started doing this with clients and it’s kind of shocking sometimes when they come back and they say, like, I had to put a one and that really sucked for me, but it’s also really great to see it. So I would probably do a life evaluation and ask yourself, where in my life am I not feeling harmonious? And the whole goal behind Holistic Harmony is not balance, which is kind of what we’re spoon fed. There is no balance in life. If you’re doing a lot at work and you have a lot going on, you can’t necessarily be doing a lot at home. You need support and partnership. And to take yourself out of the traditional roles and, and kind of hardships that we’ve put ourselves in of like, I must suffer to be able to say at the finish line, I suffered to get this. Like, how can we make it be easy and, and harmonious?
Yeah, that resonated so much because I know when I came to work with you I had the experience and this was the reality that I knew. And I was like working on breaking free of but just my experience with having been a six figure earner was that, I associated it almost with a bad like negative experience. Because I remember when I first started reaching six figures, it was honestly the worst place of my marriage. It was, I felt like I was never present. Um, that was something I’ll, I’ll never forget. This was, I think maybe it was like five months ago, I had a family member who I hadn’t seen since before working with you, since before changing what I was doing with career and work and all of that.
And she said, you are so different. You’re so happy. You’re so present. And that was just like the best feeling in the world because you know, it’s like I knew that but when people who you know see you from, you know, he outside are seeing that shift. And the truth was, you know, I had like you’re saying the pie of life, I had to really take a step back and re evaluate, you know, what’s most important here?
But there was a big addiction, you know since childhood to perform and to achieve and that’s how I found validation and worth. And also to avoid and, and, you know, kind of be in this pattern. And I know you see this all the time. It’s like an addiction to burnout and overwhelm and stress. And, and, you know, our culture 100 percent promotes it. And you said, you know, we’re kind of spoon fed this balance. But, you know, actually doing harmony is something completely different. And, you know, if you could give somebody encouragement with just kind of stepping into more of that harmony with business. I mean, what would you say would be some initial steps? I know you said like the pie of life, but other questions you would ask or encourage them to get curious about?
Yeah, I think anger, bitterness and sadness are always our arrows of like, no, this is not harmonious. So ask yourself, like, what pisses you off every week that you have to do this thing over and over again?
Very true.
You know, I know I’ve asked you the same thing about what is on your, your to do list every week that is just so annoying? So if you can take kind of an intake of your week for the week. And divide it by the pie of life. Are you happy with the friendships that you’re connecting with? Are you excited about the work you’re doing every single day to like actualize your goals? But do you need to be doing all of the tiny minute tasks or can you hire out just a couple of things?
Um, really looking at outsourcing, not just tasks, but energy. That’s, that’s how I always come back to it. It’s like, I’m outsourcing this energy. I’m going to get it all back. Um, and then for life things. Please just order the groceries online. Don’t go to the grocery store.
I hear that. One of the downfalls of being at a small town. Let me tell you, I miss Instacart all the time, but, um, I order from Thrive Market, so I kind of get in my stuff. But what you said, you know, I was thinking of this before you even answered the question, something that you have helped me so immensely with, and I really feel passionate about helping women with, especially moms with littles.
I just see just people always talking about, well, I don’t have a village. But it’s also like we’re, we have to take some self responsibility and accountability here, of what are you creating where you’re outsourcing and really getting an awareness of what is my time and energy worth? To be able to experience peace and something that you helped me immensely with, you know there was so many things, that it’s like having this understanding that you can do everything. But you don’t have to be and you shouldn’t be. Right like I can get shit done. But I don’t have to be doing all of it. You know what I mean? And it was like this period of time that I realized, wow, I could just be outsourcing so many things. And yes, does that affect my bottom line with how much I’m making? Yes. But I see my end goal and I also want to be experiencing more peace when it comes to my relationship with my kids and my spouse. And I know how much I can make in an hour compared to what I can hire out some things.
And so something that I know you’ve talked to me about, um, you know, I’ve, I’ve learned from just learning from others as well, is understanding that you may need to take on bridge opportunities or, you know, work potentially a side job, you know. As you’re building what you want to build understanding that you know, doing what you need to in the financial realm to make that work as you’re building what you want to build is important to allow for yourself.
Because you know, I can already hear what people may be thinking listening to this? Well, I don’t have the money right which is just a limiting belief. That’s just a thought like I remember when I hired you it had to have been the worst financial time for me to hire you like on paper. And fortunately my husband as I mentioned a projector and just also just, you know, my biggest my biggest supporter ever was just like, yeah, you have to do it. Like, you know, he just I love this about my husband. Um, just always has my back. But you know, it was this awareness of like, I, having, I would say probably you would agree just like the foundation has to be that belief, knowing what your potential and what you can create and knowing that it is a journey. It is a process, you know, and I think that’s something we kind of have to sell to ourselves to.
Oh, my gosh. Yes. Like, as a future visualization, but also as like a current everyday embodiment, like, it’s not separate from you. You can create new resources tomorrow, so you can absolutely like say yes to what you need to do. And it’s interesting that you say that. I just want to point that out to you because you said, like, that’s just a limiting belief regarding money. I’ve never heard from Lindsay. Like, this is too expensive or I can’t do this this month or like, I have to pay you, so therefore I’m stressing about this. And that is something that coaches and consultants hear in this space. So I just want to like mirror that back to you. That’s really powerful.
Thank you. I’ve, I’ve worked, I’ve worked on that. You know, it’s funny cause you realize, you know, a big mantra that I’ve held this past year is there’s more where that came from, right? So I remember learning this, I think from reading Louise Hay, which if you’re not familiar with her, she’s written the books, You Can Heal Your Life and You Can Heal Your Body. And she was somebody who healed her cancer, through working on the emotional components. And something that she talks about a lot is seeing a bill as something that you get to pay, right? Like anything that you have to, you know, going to the grocery store instead of like, I have to. I get to, right? So it’s like healing that energetic relationship in exchange with money, which definitely there was so much there for me growing up.
We all have those money stories and you said, you know, just from the background that you came from. And that’s part of that ongoing healing work. Um, so I, so appreciate you sharing that and something that, um, I’m excited for you, Ashleigh, because you have, and this, I think will have already happened by the time this goes live, but you have a retreat coming up, which I think is one of your first like big retreats for The Cheetah Company.
So I’d love to know, what is on the docket for the future with The Cheetah Company and just, you know, you’re putting together these retreats, which eventually I told Ashleigh, I’m so there when I’m not breastfeeding. I have just learned, I am a much happier person at retreats when I am not wearing a mom hat and bless you if you can, like, do it all. But I, um, I’ve learned I’m much more present. Uh, so, yeah, I’d love to hear kind of what you’re creating with this retreat experience, and it just seems like a great opportunity for those that are looking to get that in person connection with building their dream?
Yes. Oh, my gosh, yes. The retreat is for folks that are like, 2, 3 years into their business, maybe a little bit further. And our goal is to just be their C suite. So something that a lot of you know, entrepreneurs struggle with this, they don’t have an advisory board. Or a C suite that they can turn to and say, like, “what do you think?”. And so they have to, like, make several decisions all across the board. And our goal is to go through every department of their business audit, analyze, and then reverse engineer what they want to happen in the next 3 to 5 to 10 years.
So we’re doing that in person with clients that we’ve sat down with before, with some new clients too, and it’s very intimate, very like campfire style and in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. I think we’re going to bring retreats behind the scenes after this one. So you would have to go through a program to then be able to have the invite to come, which is going to be exciting. But we’re essentially consulting and coaching and education. We’re really putting education more at the forefront. So consulting is going to go down a bit, and we’re just going to have a lot more spaces where you can be in immersive belonging groups, very similar to a retreat. Even if it’s online and have some, like, pop up experiences where we come see you in person, but we really want to just get women in the same room together and have these conversations like we’re having now. Especially about harmonious lives, because I think a lot of people are really, really struggling right now with believing that success has to come at the sacrifice of their mind, body, and soul.
Totally, totally. And I think, you know, something that we’re both very aligned in after just seeing everything that happened in 2020 was that people are just very nervous system dysregulated. I’m still unlearning a lot of patterns here. It just you know, everybody was at this heightened survival stress level that our culture feeds off of and is so much of what you are passionate about helping business owners get out of this cycle.
And I think you already highlighted it. It’s just people just don’t realize that you don’t have to, like sacrifice your health to see the kind of results that you want when it comes to business. And I, I see that our culture makes it so black and white. Like, you know, you can’t have your dream job or you know enjoy your job and also be a good mom. Like there’s just there’s all these like you know, paradigms and stories that people have. And so I think just, you know, an initial step like you said, it’s just getting really curious with what is just no longer feeling good with your energy. Because I feel like something you, I will tell you guys, okay, I’m going to give you a little behind the scenes of a, of an Ashleigh chat with me and it honestly has changed my life.
Okay. I’m actually getting a little emotional saying it. Because, um, ah, dang it. Why am I like getting emotional? Um, so Ashleigh would say to me, and it was really true because I think just nobody had actually asked me this, was you know, in, in different sessions of working together, what do you really want? Because there’s a difference of feeling, you know, especially for all the people listening that I know are like super into business and entrepreneurship and you want to make money. You want to be successful, you want to you know, experience that. And, um, but what do you really want? And when I actually had a sit with that question, I would realize that I was operating from a space that was really from childhood wounds in a lot of what I did with business.
And that it was coming from a place of, and it’s, you know, these are all things that I work on with people one on one. It’s a lot, it takes a lot of time and consistency of unlearning, but of, you know, being in a place of, I just need to keep doing more. I need to keep offering this. I need to keep like, you know, adding and adding and adding. I need to show more of myself. Like, you know, I felt like this drive that I had to do so much on social media, but then, you know, being honest about what I really want. I want to be more offline, not more online.
And you’d be like, so does that actually like help you get to your goal or not? You know, and I think you know, what I talk about with health and you mirror so much with business is really having that self awareness of what do you really want? Because you know, the more that we are in alignment, the more things just start happening. They’re in flow. Things start coming to you. That’s when we’re the most magnetic, but we have to choose that. We have to choose that. We want a different experience. And so I always like to say Ashleigh’s, you know, side job is my therapist. Um, she will, I don’t know, she will probably say this too, but, you know, she gets to hear everybody’s rants on the side, which is I’m so grateful for, but I would say, I mean, this is probably a lot of what you hear from women is just kind of a lot of healing happening as they’re working with you.
Yeah, and it’s, it’s the most special and I’m not even able to like talk about your experience because I’ll start crying. But the transformation that you’ve had just in this past, I mean, we’re coming up on a year like next month, it’s crazy. Because you’re just like, nope, I don’t do that anymore. Like, it’s just like an absolute boundary.
Yeah, I had like no boundaries before I worked with you. So that’s gotten better. Yep. That’s gotten better.
No, your boundaries are so good of like, no, I don’t have to do that. And I’m actually going to choose this differently. And I took a break instead. Like, I just love hearing that, which I mean, you should be in like an idea incubator for female founders. I think, I think you would be able to generate ideas for the whole world because you have so many ideas. But I love that it’s now not like, uh, I need to go run and do this immediately to like, get it out into the world. Because that has got to be just disregulating for the nervous system to be like, let me go run and you just, you heal so quick. Like, it’s, it’s crazy to watch you heal.
Um, we’ve worked with over 200 clients now around the globe, and it’s crazy to hear in all of the different areas of the world, the accents might change, the culture might change. The heart is still the same. I feel like I have to do everything myself and I’m not supported.
You’re so spot on. It’s like the theme of females that needs to be shifted. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. So it’s really special to see the healing behind the scenes for sure.
So I love it. Ashleigh, what would you say for people that just want to be able to connect with working with you to be able to get that experience of starting to increase their, their harmony with business? What would their next steps be as far as connecting with what you do and your services?
Oh my gosh. Okay. So the first things first, we want to give you something for free. So if you had to www.thecheetahcompany.Com, we have two different free resources for you. And we can put those in the show notes for sure of just two different pathways. We have a plan for you to create content and then another plan to have really legacy focused marketing. So it’s not microwave marketing, which is sold to us online. And then otherwise, we have two spaces, our signature spaces. A signature membership called The Cheetah Coalition, and that’s if you really want to focus on social media and sales, and then if you’re ready for sales across your whole marketing plan. We would suggest The Timeless Sales Method Course, which is our signature course, and then otherwise consulting if you just need one on one support.
So many cool things. I love it. And, you know, as you were talking, it was making me think of, you know. When we were talking about what do you really want? And getting clear on the path, something that Ashleigh is so good at and helped me actualize is what am I really good at? And what um, you know, how can I really embrace less is more and show up that much more efficiently? You know, I was in this space, like I kind of have mentioned of just word vomit, like overextending myself, thinking I had to do all these things.
When truly, utilizing her support and her methods helped me be able to find myself being way more efficient, way more focused. I would never have considered myself before working with you able to be a detailed person, like, I’m just somebody, I’m ideas. And I’m like, you know, and I still I’m working on this area, but it was like that just came so much easier. I was able to really construct a plan and also know, like, what am I really good at? And what do I not have to be doing? And so I just am wanting to highlight guys, you know, the power of being able to have a coach or somebody that you’re working with that can help you with this, because what people don’t really realize guys, is in the long run to how much it saves you when it comes to not just money, but time and energy. Because that was what I realized is my biggest currency and what I was losing all these years, was my time and energy. And literally my health was running into the ground.
And so I just knew, if I wanted to get different results, I had to go a completely different way. And so I had to, you know, enlist that help and I had to just dive in to a different, a different way. And so I’m forever grateful for you and that you introduced me to all this. And if it’s not obvious, I recommend Ashleigh to everybody. I really do. I tell all my friends and then they’re like, you know. You will know you will know there’s different stages of life, but um, you know, i’m forever grateful that’s been my experience. And uh, just the work that we get to do.
So I love that you mentioned, you know, all the different ways that people can work with you and, and you have great support over on email too. I get Ashleigh’s emails to my inbox, which is always so fun. Great learning, a great way to connect. So Ashleigh, I love to wrap up the podcast episode, and I always love hearing what people are experiencing on their journey right now. But if you could share a few words of what health, healing, and vitality mean to you.
I feel like I’m more of a sentence person, so I’m just going to go ahead and say it means everything. It means everything to me, right now, because I without it I wouldn’t be able to get up out of bed every day and like pursue my passion and and shift society forward with what I’m here to do with my soul work.
I love that. You know, it’s such an ongoing thing. I think we tend to really confine health or healing as something that just happens when something is wrong. But that is really something like you said it’s part of I, 100 percent agree, our soul work. It’s what we get to embody. It gets to be just our legacy and our gift. And so I love that that is just resonating with you now in this season.
So Ashleigh, I’m so glad that you were able to hop on with this episode and be able to share. Because as I mentioned, with Ashleigh hopping on, I just think that there’s a missing link and a missing gap when it comes to talking about health and business and where misalignment absolutely shows up in every facet of life, you know. Just being really aligned with what we want to do with work is just nourishing. And, and you know, that’s gonna look different for everyone. But I hope that Ashleigh was able to encourage you that this absolutely something that you can be pursuing and also just to connect with her for all her wisdom and resources So, thank you so much, Ashleigh.
Thanks, Lindsay.
